Some Stanford programs offer opportunities that are broadly defined and more flexible. For example, you choose the location, the dates, and work with a partner to identify a project/activity. Browse the opportunities below to gain a better sense of the variety of options available to you and apply through SOLO.

Aashna Shroff, ’18 (Computer Science), John Kamalu, ’18 (Computer Science)

Girls Code Camp, Hyderabad, India

Aashna has started a program called Girls Code Camp in Hyderabad, India (her hometown) with two fellow Stanford students, including John Kamalu.  Partnered with her high school, CHIREC, and other schools in Hyderabad they have created and taught computer programming workshops for high school girls.

Sophia Christel, ’15 (Earth Systems)

Open Space, Parks and Golf Division, City of Palo Alto’s Community Services Department, Palo Alto, California

Sophia, an avid birder who grew up hiking the Palo Alto Baylands, has designed and produced new interpretive signage for the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve, which addresses aspects of salt marsh ecology, bird identification, and local landmarks.

Eric Fabre, ’16​ (International Relations)

WhizzKids United, Africaid Trust, Durban, South Africa

Eric, a former soccer player, has worked with WhizzKids, an organization that combines soccer and HIV/AIDS education to promote positive conversations around HIV/AIDS.  Eric evaluated the On the Ball Life Skills program, which goes to schools in the KwaZulu Natal region to further the reach of the WhizzKids programs.
