About Carnegie Endowment for International Peace India, New Delhi

Carnegie India, the sixth international center of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, opened in April 2016 in New Delhi. As with Carnegie’s centers in Beijing, Beirut, Brussels, Moscow, and Washington, Carnegie India is staffed and led by local experts who collaborate extensively with colleagues around the world.

The center’s research and programmatic focus will include the political economy of reform in India, foreign and security policy, and the role of innovation and technology in India’s internal transformation and international relations.

Project:

The student will have the opportunity to work on Carnegie India’s ongoing security studies program. Including work on security studies related to India. 

Interns provide overall support to Carnegie India's scholars, program, and communications team. Responsibilities will include research assistance to support the center's scholars and projects; providing organizational and logistical support for public and private events; supporting media monitoring and outreach efforts; and helping maintain the center's contact database.

Eligibility and Skills Required:

The internship is open to continuing undergraduate and graduate students. Students from any department are welcome to apply. Applicants must be in good academic standing with a GPA of 3.3 or higher.  Applicants should have ability to multitask, organization skills, experience in primary and secondary data collection, and ability to put together invite lists and assist with event organization.

Background in international relations and an interest in security issues in South Asia or the Indo-Pacific.

The intern should have good research and analysis skills and an understanding of foreign policy and international security, and/or technology policy. He/she must have an excellent verbal and written command of English. It will help if the intern is diligent, innovative, open to ideas and hard working.

Preference for upper division undergraduates or graduate students.

Location:

The internship is located in New Delhi, India. Remote options will be available should travel not be a possibility due to COVID-19.

Visa Requirements:

A visa will be required to travel and intern with Carnegie India. FSI and Carnegie India will work to assist placement in securing a visa.

Stipend:

FSI is committed to providing its opportunities to students regardless of financial constraints. FSI's Global Policy interns are provided with a stipend to cover travel and living expenses during the summer. These stipends do not exceed $6,400 per student. Students must submit a budget with their estimated costs along with their application.
