Seed is a Stanford GSB-led initiative that’s working to end the cycle of global poverty. We believe that business is one of the most powerful engines of change to move developing and emerging economies to greater prosperity. To maximize our impact, we’re working on multiple fronts and across multiple time horizons. Seed is training business leaders in developing economies, inspiring Stanford students to become globally engaged leaders, and supporting critical research that can lead to breakthrough solutions.
Stanford Seed is looking for summer 2019 interns to conduct research on how Seed’s small and medium enterprises impact customers, employees, suppliers and distributors, local communities, and the planet. Teams will be comprised of students with qualitative and quantitative research backgrounds. Students will be based in Accra Ghana, Nairobi Kenya or Chennai India. They will study 2-3 companies over an 8-10 week period. Research will involve conducting value chain impact assessment studies and interviewing employees, suppliers and customers on how the Seed enterprise has impacted them. Students will be trained at Stanford on research methods to use for this project. Ideal students are in business, economics and social sciences. Undergraduate or graduate students welcome to apply.
Eligibility and Requirements:
Students will conduct action research on how Seed’s small and medium enterprises impact customers, employees, suppliers, local communities and the plant. Must have passion for developing economies and strong interpersonal skills.
