The Bing Overseas Studies Program (BOSP) offers the opportunity to study abroad while remaining enrolled at Stanford and is considered an integral part of the Stanford curriculum. All BOSP programs offer direct Stanford credit for courses taught overseas that frequently count toward one or more majors. In addition, many BOSP courses fulfill Ways of Thinking/Ways of Doing Requirements (WAYS). Regular tuition applies, and financial aid continues. BOSP operates a variety of programs, including quarter length programs, internships and other opportunities.
Resting between dramatic mountains and one of the world's busiest harbors, Hong Kong's famous skyline boasts the most skyscrapers of any city. Listed as the fourth most densely populated region in the world, Hong Kong also boasts citizens with the world's longest life expectancy. This gateway to the Chinese-speaking world is recognized as one of the world's leading financial, banking, and trading centers.
With influences from its 150 years of British administration, hong Kong now operates under the principle of "one country, two systems" as a Special Administrative region within the People's Republic of China and offers a dynamic and unique location for Stanford's newest study abroad location.
The academic objective of the Hong Kong program is to introduce students to the complex diversity and importance of the Sinophone world. The program is based at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), where Stanford students will study alongside locally enrolled students and reside in one of the university's residential colleges. Students will be able to engage fully in college-sponsored programs and activities at CUHK, and will also participate in programs and excursions designed specifically for the Stanford student cohort.
