The Bing Overseas Studies Program (BOSP) offers the opportunity to study away from campus while remaining enrolled at Stanford and is considered an integral part of the Stanford curriculum. All BOSP programs offer direct Stanford credit for courses taught overseas that frequently count toward one or more majors. In addition, many BOSP courses fulfill Ways of Thinking/Ways of Doing Requirements (WAYS). Regular tuition applies, and financial aid continues. BOSP operates a variety of programs, including quarter length programs, internships and other opportunities.
Often called the world's capital, New York City is home to the United Nations, offices of almost every major company in the world, the high finance dealings of Wall Street, the world's largest media market, a robust ecosystem of city government and public agencies, internationally known museums, theaters, and cultural institutions, and so much more.
Stanford in New York offers students distinctive and multifaceted engagement with this dynamic city. The program's blend of coursework and internships inspires students with a diverse range of interests to explore their studies and real-world application through the unique lens of New York. Each quarter students pursue 10-week internships, working 32 hours/week in an area of acedimc and/or personal interest, in a wide variety of fields, organized around particular industries or themes. Students also enroll in two electives and the required New York City Seminar, which integrates their learning from coursework, the city and their internship experiences.
All courses are held at the Stanford in New York Center, based in the Flatiron neighborhood of Manhattan. The Center also offers field trips, industry site visits, workshops, and networking, mentroing, and other professional development opportunities. All students live in student housing in Brooklyn Heights, commute to and from work via subway, and get a taste of living, learning, and working in this dynamic global city.
