Chevron Fellowship in Energy 2024

The Chevron Fellowship supports PhD students focused on research that will enable scalable innovation in lower carbon-intensity energy solutions, including:

• Research in current energy systems that will improve/enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, digital transformation, and lower carbon footprint. 
• Research in decarbonization focus areas including carbon utilization (through thermo-/electro-/bio- catalytic pathways), H2 value chain, next-generation renewable fuels including sustainable aviation fuels, and qualification/quantification of carbon offsets.
• Research in future energy systems including novel geothermal solutions, energy storage systems, mobility systems, modular nuclear reactors, fusion, etc. 

The Chevron Fellowship is part of the company’s University Partnership Program, which supports universities around the country by providing the necessary funding to better develop the future of the energy business. Fellowship awardees will be able to access Chevron stakeholders for industry perspective on their research topics. 

FUNDING AND DURATION:

This graduate fellowship will provide six fellows with $80,000 (minus infrastructure charge) in funding over the course of 12 months. The approximate period of the fellowship is September 2024 through August 2025.  

REVIEW PROCESS:

The review process will be managed by Stanford's University Corporate and Foundation Relations group, in coordination with the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability and the Precourt Institute for Energy. Fellowships will be granted by Stanford with input from Chevron (based on review of the proposals and resume of candidates).
