Under the general supervision of the Student Learning Specialist (SLS) at the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), STEMentors will support students enrolled in select STEM courses (referred to as a parent course) individually and in small groups (Mentor Sections). STEMentors will host weekly mentor sections, attend weekly content meetings with faculty and the SLS, and participate in a 13-session mentor training program facilitated by the SLS.

In this role, you will:
Work an average of 5 hours per week during the quarter
Earn $21/hour
Gain mentoring experiences and learning strategies
Minimum Qualifications:
Current Stanford undergraduate
3.0 or higher GPA and good academic standing
Completion and evidence of competency in MATSCI 144 and/or ENGR50(E,M)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Possess a schedule that will allow the applicant to
Host weekly 50-minute mentor sections
Attend weekly 50-minute mentor training (there are 2 80-minute training sessions at the start of the quarter)
Attend weekly 30-minute content meetings between parent course instructor and the SLS
Demonstrate an openness and respect for individuals from diverse backgrounds
Be reliable, responsible, and have a desire to facilitate high-quality mentor-mentee relationships!

What you will do
Host weekly 50-minute mentor session/s for peers in MATSCI 144 and/or ENGR50.
Attend weekly 50-minute mentor training sessions (CTL250) and content meetings with the MSE course instructor.
Contribute to fostering an inclusive and supportive STEM community at Stanford.
Provide personalized academic and wellness support to mentees.
Facilitate the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills among mentees.
Eligibility and Requirements:
