The Martin Luther King, Jr., Papers Project is looking for undergraduate interns to assist in the publication of The Papers of Martin Luther King, Jr.,the authoritative fourteen-volume edition of Dr. King’s most historically significant speeches, sermons, correspondence, and other works. Since Coretta Scott King sponsored the Project in 1985 and with the help of hundreds of undergraduates, we have published seven volumes of the edition that have become essential reference works.
The full-time, ten-week summer research program consists of conducting archival, library, internet, and database research; analyzing primary source materials for use in scholarly writing; and learning basic processes of scholarly publication. Interns receive individual supervision from an assigned Project staff member on all tasks and get experience on all levels of manuscript preparation. Summer research allows for advanced tasks including researching focused questions and even completing first drafts of material that will eventually get published in our upcoming volume of The Papers of Martin Luther King, Jr.
