About the Opportunity
Are you a Stanford freshman or sophomore looking for a summer internship that will provide an inside look at how a startup organization functions, while gaining valuable real world work experience? Do you crave working on projects with a social purpose, and are you interested in exploring a range of career avenues – from research and data analytics, to marketing and strategic partnerships?
The mission of CreatorsCircle.org is to creatively engage, educate, and empower youth of color to learn more about the world of social enterprise in order to help build a more diverse and inclusive impact ecosystem.
We are seeking a resourceful and diligent Summer Intern with exceptionally strong skills in research methods who will support internal projects that include tasks of data mining, data analysis, structuring data, and evaluating strategic partnerships with some of the world’s most exciting social impact-focused startups, foundations, and events in the world.
You are an A-player who can thrive in a startup environment and is interested in learning and contributing to a creative social impact startup. The successful candidate will be an organized problem-solver and self-starter with global sensibilities and the ability to multitask and at the same time maintain attention to detail and standards for quality.
An interest in social impact, social entrepreneurship, diversity & equity, and a positive attitude are required. An interest in using data for good is a plus.
Interns may work remotely and hours are negotiable. While the internship is unpaid, it is available in exchange for course credit and ongoing career mentorship. In addition, this is a unique opportunity to be mentored by an experienced team comprised of Stanford alumni.
Current university undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply. We are searching for candidates with the following qualifications and experience:
Requirements:
- Current undeclared Stanford frosh or sophomore
- Background in social sciences, humanities, and/or market research
- Experience in statistical analysis, data visualization/mapping, and graphic design would be a plus, though not required
- Interests in social entrepreneurship, community-responsive research, and collective impact
- Desire to learn about new data analysis technologies and tools
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Robust organizational and planning skills
- Professionalism and dependability
- Strong emotional intelligence and a positive attitude
- Discretion and confidentiality
- Commitment to social and environmental causes
- Proficiency in Google Apps Suite and MS Excel
- Appropriate technology is required (personal computer, secure internet connection)
The internship will run for 3 months, from the beginning of June to the end of August. The dates are flexible depending on the intern's availability.

BEAM FELLOWS
BEAM Fellows is a partnership between alumni and BEAM, Stanford Career Education, to connect undeclared students to alumni with non-technical summer internships. Alumni from diverse industries seek interns for a variety of substantive and engaging work. Past industries have included jewelry, entertainment, food & beverage, and wealth management among others; previous intern roles have focused on marketing, business, journalism, strategic planning, and more. Beginning in Winter Quarter, BEAM Fellows will post internship opportunities on Handshake for students to explore and pursue. Undeclared frosh and sophomores hired by alumni can apply for a stipend of up to $5,000 to help cover the cost of travel and living expenses during their summer internship. The stipend process is completed by BEAM, and all interviewing and hiring is at the discretion of the participating employers. Students may submit a stipend application at the link below when they apply to a position. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. BEAM, Stanford Career Education will make its best effort to review and reply within 10 days of receiving your application. You will receive an email sharing how much you would be awarded if you are hired by the employer. You do not have to have an offer to apply.
