Organization Profile: Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol is one of the largest science and business environments for technology companies in the Nordics, founded by the Estonian government, Tallinn city and University of Technology. Tehnopol is facilitating more than 400 ICT, health-tech, green-tech and deep-tech companies. The campus area is formed together with Tallinn University of Technology, bringing around 14 000 students and 3 000 researchers to the innovation area of Tallinn. Tehnopol is part of a strong infrastructure and local ecosystem, with 55 000 m2 offices, 4 laboratories, 4 R&D centers, 14000 people in the campus, and TalTech University as next-door neighbor.
Tehnopol is also well linked with strong networks both in Estonia and all over the world. Being part of Enterprise Europe Network, Digital Innovation Hub network, International Association of Science and Technology parks and InnoEnergy helps to provide extra value for the companies in the Science Park and beyond. Tehnopol will contribute with extensive experience in the field of developing structured programmes to start-ups, as well as experience in building and utilizing a well-functioning local ecosystem.
The team consist of 31 full time employees with relevant university degrees and years of experience in the field. The team has executed at least 30 different international projects with partners from all over the world, including Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.

Internship format: Virtual/Remote or In-person (pending Stanford ,host country, and host organization travel policies)
Project description: Tehnopol together with TalTech will host 3 interns.
One of the interns shall work closely together with Tehnopol Startup Incubators’ team on the following tasks and topics:
- Mapping of relevant new target markets for Tehnopol Startup Incubator to get the founder deal flow.
- Designing the value proposition for international corporations and governmental organizations for private startup programs.
- Negotiations with relevant service providers for the startup benefit programs.
One of the interns shall work closely together with one of our portfolios start-tup companies on the following topics:
- Competitive analyses to find the USP (unique selling point).
- Different business development related tasks.
- Target market research.
- Designing the outreach campaigns for potential clients.
One of the interns shall work closely together with TalTech (University of Technology) to support the 14 deep-tech spins off companies/teams on different business development related topics:
- Business model design for deep-tech teams
- Value proposition design
- Competitors analyses
- Target market research

Work Hours and Internship Start/End Dates: (Monday to Friday, June
20 –August 12, 2022): July is the most intense vacation month in Estonia, but we can be flexible when hosting the interns.
Work Attire: Casual
Local language: Estonian, but the startup ecosystem is rather English based.
Local language level needed: Not required
Additional desired intern qualifications: The interns should have an interest to work for startups or startup support organizations, have relevant business development skills or an ability to learn quickly.
- The applicant must currently be an enrolled undergraduate at Stanford and in good standing.
- The applicant cannot have his/her undergraduate degree conferred before the completion of this internship.
- Seniors who will be returning to coterm for all of next year are eligible to apply.
- Global Studies minors in European Studies will receive preference.
- For summer 2022, proof of vaccination will be required for all undergraduate travel, with no exceptions. The final decision to proceed with the international learning opportunities is dependent upon factors such as a continued decline in case numbers and increase in vaccinations in specific locations. Policies regarding travel (domestic or international) and international internships will be updated as University policies evolve. - Travel Reservations Requirement: All interns are required to utilize Stanford Travel, a centralized booking program, when booking airfare, hotels, or rental cars for their internship experiences.
- Students must be enrolled at Stanford in the quarter when they apply for an internship opportunity (Winter), and will need to be enrolled in undergraduate study in the quarter when grant funding is disbursed (Spring). Applicants participating in off-campus Stanford programs are welcome to apply, but it is the responsibility of the applicant to compile, collate, and submit a complete application.
- Internship participants must certify that they are in good academic standing, and may not participate in the program or receive or retain internship stipends if they are on suspension.
- International students must consult with Bechtel about interning in the U.S. or abroad in the summer.
- Preferably, before beginning their internships, selected candidates should have taken at least one course regarding the internship region. The course can be taken in the quarter prior to the internship.
- To be eligible for a stipend, students must maintain health insurance for the duration of their internship.
