CESTA is Stanford’s hub for digital humanities, where faculty and students bring the power of humanistic investigation together with new technology to document, analyze and understand the changing human experience.
CESTA hires students for part-time and full-time research positions in the Winter, Spring, and Summer quarters. Interns collaborate on faculty-run research projects, join a vibrant community, and gain practical experience. Applications are now being accepted. Funding amount is subject to VPUE policies on undergraduate research stipends.

Week of January 11: Group Interviews over Zoom; offer letters sent to students for all quarters.
Week of January 18: Orientation and initial project meetings for students working in the Winter quarter.

Analyzing historical evictions and dispossession across 30 cities globally to determine patterns of urbanization and forced relocation
Applying computational modeling to reveal stylistic nuance and social bias in thousands of texts
Developing online portals for newly digitized historical archives, creating innovative teaching and research opportunities
Predicting the future of human communication by analyzing historical communication technologies
Studying how the world has changed during the pandemic and gathering stories and art related to life in quarantine
