About the company: We are Africa's foremost genomics company offering genomic services to scientists conducting research towards solving Africa's biggest challenges - food security and health. Our core services include DNA sequencing, oligo synthesis, bioinformatics and supply of all products genomics across the Sub Saharan region.
Project Description: Inqaba Biotec West Africa (IBWA) is a subsidiary of Inqaba Biotec South Africa, which is located in Pretoria, South Africa. While most of our services are performed at our mother-conpany in Pretoria, IBWA aims to domesticate some of our key company services over the next few years to ensure access to quality research technology and inputs by West African scientists. These include offering bench spaces to scientists to perform their research at our lab, local oligo production, continous training of scientists in molecular biology, to name but few. The more interesting aspect of the project, however, is our resolve to start offering molecular diagnostic services to the West African population. In 10 years, we aim to become West Africa's foremost diagnostic company. Our aim is to have an intern who combines scientific background with business and is able to help in the redesign of our company as we walk the roads of transformation. To achieve the above, we have developed a facility (structure complete but yet to be equipped) just across the road from IITA (http://www.iita.org/), West Africa's largest and most advanced research institute, which has a very beautiful campus where we intend to house our intern. With our state-of-the-art facility, which will facilitate research and provide quality diagnostic services, we strongly believe that Africa's story will begin its journey of rewriting.
