The Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies and The Europe Center (TEC) are pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for Stanford University's nominees to the Vienna International Christian-Islamic Summer University.
The Vienna International Christian-Islamic Summer University (VICISU) is a three-week summer program that aims at bringing together students and professors from universities in all of the five continents. It evolved from the “Vienna International Christian-Islamic Round Table”, an initiative by academics from different fields of specialization, such as law, theology and social sciences, in order to discuss the most important questions concerning our today’s world, from a Christian and from a Muslim perspective.
VICISU started in 2008 and has since then been organized on a biennial basis. Professors and students come from numerous countries, including Afghanistan, Australia, Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
VICISU 2018 will again be organized at Stift Altenburg, a Benedictine monastery in Lower Austria. The baroque monastery, widely known for its "Garden of the Religions", offers campus facilities with a unique learning atmosphere surrounded by the beautiful landscape of Lower Austria. VICISU is accompanied by extra-curricular activities including excursions to the world-famous Abbey of Melk and to the United Nations in Vienna, receptions at the Vienna City Hall and at Stift Altenburg, sporting activities (soccer, table tennis, jogging, hiking, swimming), a multi-cultural talent show and a multi-cultural dinner.
The 6th Vienna International Christian-Islamic Summer University will take place from July 29, 2018 to August 18, 2018. For detailed information, please visit VICISU's website at http://www.univie.ac.at/vicisu/.
