The Social Justice and Community Engagement Program supports undergraduate students interested in social change, activism, and organizing by developing their analytical and practical skills as social change leaders and community advocates.

GRADUATE COMMMUNITY-BASED RESEARCH (GCBR) FELLOWSHIP

This pilot program supports graduate students in becoming social change leaders in their respectives fields through practical community-based research experience.

The California Energy Commission (CEC) is the state's primary energy policy and planning agency. Commissioner J. Andrew McAllister, PhD, is the lead commissioner at the CEC over buildings, electricity, gas and data.

The Western Interstate Energy Board is an organization of 11 Western States and three western Canadian Provinces. WIEB promotes cooperatively developed energy policy to enhance the economy of the West and contribute to the wellbeing of its people.

COMMMUNITY-BASED RESEARCH (CBR) FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM The Community-Based Research Fellowship Program supports teams of students, community partners, and faculty mentors collaborating in research that addresses community-identified needs.

CARB is charged with protecting the public from the harmful effects of air pollution and developing programs and actions to fight climate change. 

The Hawaii Public Utilities Commission’s (HPUC) primary duty is to protect the public interest by overseeing and regulating public utilities to ensure that they provide reliable service at just and reasonable rates.

The City of Palo Alto has provided a full range of utility services (electric, gas, water, and sewer) for over 100 years, and is one of the only publicly-owned gas utilities in the State of California. 

The Office of Planning and Research serves the Governor and his Cabinet as staff for long-range planning and research, and constitutes the comprehensive state planning agency. 

DWR protects, conserves, develops, and manages much of California's water supply. This includes the State Water Project (SWP), the nation’s largest state-built water conveyance program, which also produces hydroelectric power.

SIG's Stipends Program provides funding for students who wish to participate in self-arranged public policy internships.

SIG's Fellowships Program provides highly-qualified students with meaningful exposure to the public policy process through a number of paid spring and summer fellowships pre-arranged by SIG. These are offered in government and nonprofit agencies.

The Office of Planning and Research (OPR) supports California's Governor on long-range planning and research. This intern will work on a variety of high-level policy projects related to climate mitigation, adaptation, and resilience.
